Latest News - ESWADE PARTICIPATES IN FIRST EVER ESWATINI COLD CHAIN SUMMIT
8 August, 2019
- The Cold Chain Summit was the first ever to be held in Eswatini. Hosted by NAMBoard, the summit aimed at addressing topical and contemporary issues in securing fresh produce through an efficient value chain system. Discussions held were based on three pillars namely; Quality Inputs, Production Systems and Harvesting and Product Handling. Speakers stretched from Academia; Farmers; Input Suppliers; Exporters and Institutions dealing directly with farmers such as ESWADE.
Standards such as Global GAP were discussed alongside other opportunities for crop resilience such as GMO’s. The challenge of climate change was also discussed at great lengths and ESWADE had the opportunity to present on her strategies in withstanding climate change such as the usage of drip irrigation measures.
A take-home and perhaps challenge for the organization moving forward is in effectively managing its key value-chain function of ensuring standards are met from the field and securing continuous growth in crop resilience strategies.
