- A delegation from the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) visited ESWADE’s LUSIP 1 project as part of their annual missions to assess progress made. An overall presentation on ESWADE was carried through by the LUSIP Project Manager to provide a basis for the project’s successes and challenges. Key among the successes was how the diversification process has enabled explorations into pharmaceutical markets through the Moringa plant. Places visited include ESWADE’s demonstration plot; Kuhlekutentela FC; Sdzakeni FC and Lukhetseni packhouse. Kuhlekutentela is a farmers company instituted by ESWADE with a shareholding of 82 household representatives. The company has successfully focused on both sugar cane and other crops and is now exploring opportunities in property development. Sdzakeni, an EU funded project managed by HVCHP under ESWADE looks at growing high value crops such as baby veggies, banana, butternut and your conventional veggies such as green pepper. The aim is to export these crops in their quality state hence the Lukhetseni packhouse which is adjacent to the farms where the crops are grown. The delegation showed to look forward to the complete study on the comprehensive economic value that the LUSIP initiative has brought to the broader Siphofaneni Community where it operates.
